Sharek’s Take | ||
Analysts have no qtrly earnings estimates for Noah Holdings. So for now we are driving blind. But the outlook is bright over the long-term, with 26% revenue growth expected this year and 41% in 2016. Another plus is the estimated long-term profit growth rate is a robust 34%. For 2015 analysts project 12% profit growth but the company just said its expects 16% to 22% growth for the year. With a 14 P/E NOAH is inexpensive, the stock has also been trending up of late and is timely. I feel this $22 stock is worth $26 and think NOAH is a good investment for the long-run, but am cautious when I don’t have qtrly estimates to look at.
One-Year Chart | ||
Here’s NOAH’s one-year chart. Profit growth of just 4% looks to be a one-quarter thing. I love the Est LTG of 34%, especially considering the P/E of just 14.
Earnings Table | ||
Noah’s revenue jumped 39% but profits increased just 4%. I think the slow profit growth was an anomaly. The company beat the street by a penny last quarter, after missing by a penny the qtr before. Annual Profit Estimates didn’t budge and I only have 2015 estimates. There’s no estimated quarterly profit growth to speak of. |
||
Fair Value | ||
I feel this stock is a good value at 14x earnings estimates. I think the P/E should be 17, which would rise the stock some, but the real growth is if annual profits continue to climb as they have been.
Ten-Year Chart | ||
Noah’s been a little volatile but now the chart has turned up and looks bullish.

Noah Holdings is certainly doing an admirable job gaining new assets, but this small cap stock needs more analysts covering it to garner more attention. NOAH is a small position for me, but one I like as a buy-and-hold investment that could pay off handsomely. NOAH ranks 14th of 22 stocks in the Growth Portfolio Power Rankings. If I could get qtrly estimates I would consider it for the Aggressive Growth Portfolio. |
