Sharek’s Take
David SharekPriceline keeps on beating the street. I first purchased PCLN in May 2006 for $29 and over the course of 8 1/2 years the company has beaten the street each and every quarter by an average of 33 cents each time. Last quarter the company beat the street by 48 cents as bookings surged 34%, including 36% internationally and 24% in the U.S. With a P/E of 24, this stock is modestly priced and has good upside both this year and next. Priceline continues to be one of my top holdings and is a stock I think you can feel comfortable owning for a long time.
 One-Year Chart
PCLN_2014_Q3PCLN stock got a little ahead of itself earlier in the year when it shot past $1300 in February. But at that point the stock had almost doubled within a year and needed time to cool off. Although most everything here is in green, note profit growth slowed from 36% to 24% the last 2 qtrs.
Earnings Table
PCLN_2014_Q3_EPSPriceline’s sales grew 26% last quarter as profit growth came in at 24% year-over-year.

PCLN did beat the street by 48 cents last quarter, but it had been beating by higher amounts during the past year.

Annual Profit Estimates
continue edge higher. This Earnings Table is classic Priceline.

Although quarterly estimates have declined a bit, there’s a very good chance PCLN grows profits 30% the next four quarters.
Fair Value
PCLN_2014_Q3_PHAlthough its been an All-Time stock market great, PCLN hasn’t been a beloved stock. It never seems to get the credit it deserves, just look at how low the P/Es have been over the years. I think PCLN is worth at least 28 times earnings.
Ten-Year Chart
PCLN_2014_Q3_10yrSuch a pretty picture. Wish I put $2900 into PCLN back when I bought the stock for clients in 2006. Had I held, that investment would be $123,400 now.
Power Ranking Bottom Line
Growth Portfolio

Priceline continues to deliver just as it always does. The stock is a perennial top five holding of mine and even after the surge from $29 to $1200 it’s still undervalued. A great growth stock to buy-and-hold.

PCLN is ranked 3rd in the 24 stock Growth Portfolio Power Rankings and 5th in the 11 stock Aggressive Growth Portfolio
