U.S. Stocks Slip as Warsh Signals Fed Could Raise Rates

The stock market slipped on Friday after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole heightened concerns that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates in September to combat persistent inflation.

Overall, S&P 500 fell 0.3% to 7,712, while Nasdaq declined 0.5% to 26,402.

CoreWeave is growing by leaps & bounds, but is taking on debt to do so. It rents computers to run artificial intelligence (AI) platforms.

Business is booming, with last quarter’s revenue of $2.6 billion up, 112% year-over-year. Revenue backlog is now $104 billion compared to $30 billion just a year ago.

However, debt is around $35 billion as the company builds out its infrastructure to support more compute. Infrastructure buildout includes hardware, storage, networking, sites, power, and cooling.

In last quarter’s earnings call, management stated the company has 3.7 gigawatts of active power, and is on track for 8 gigawatts by 2030.

What is holding this stock back is investors fears about debt. 2026 CapEx guidance is $37 billion while revenue is expected to be $13 billion.
