U.S. Stocks End Lower as Middle East Tensions Lift Oil Prices

U.S. stocks closed lower on Wednesday as escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East fueled a rise in oil prices and Treasury yields, dampening investor sentiment.

Oil prices climbed after the United States carried out its 11th consecutive round of strikes against Iran, raising concerns about potential disruptions to global energy supplies and increasing inflation expectations.

Overall, S&P 500 fell 0.1% to 7,499, while Nasdaq declined 0.6% to 25,691.

Chart of the Day

Here is the one-year chart of CrowdStrike (CRWD) as of June 25, 2026, when the stock was at $679.

CrowdStrike believes AI adoption is growing much faster than AI security, creating a major new opportunity for cybersecurity companies.

Last quarter, the company managed to deliver 51% profit growth on 46% revenue growth as demand for its AI-powered cybersecurity platform continued to accelerate. Management stated many businesses want to deploy AI faster but are being held back because they lack the security controls needed to protect AI models, identities, and data.

CrowdStrike developed AI Detection & Response (AIDR), which helps businesses monitor AI systems, detect suspicious behavior, and stop AI-powered threats before they can cause damage. Its AI Detection & Response pipeline grew 250% quarter-over-quarter as customers increasingly looked for AI-specific security solutions.

Management believes AI security could eventually become an even larger market than endpoint security as businesses deploy billions of AI agents in the years ahead.

CRWD is part of the Growth Portfolio. The stock is now a little overvalued after a recent run from $400 to $700.
